Standalone engine management installation has never been so easy. Now with the new Adaptronic Plug-In Select for Series 1 Mazda RX-8 can plug and play your way in to the world of standalone. All Adaptronic Plug-In Select ECUs are sold with a base map to get the car running, so all you have to do is plug it in to be up and running again. All ECUs in the Select range have an internal 4 bar MAP sensor, so you can simply run a hose from the barb on the ECU into the engine bay. You may retain the air flow meter if you wish, but MAP sensing is required for most forced-induction applications. Although these ECUs are plug-and-play, you still have the freedom to configure and tune the ECU as you wish, using the user-friendly WARI tuning software. Pinout tables are provided for all Plug-In Select ECUs, so you know exactly what each input and output is connected to on the engine. This model requires the original ECU to be left in place to control some basic functions like alternator and Throttle control as well as traction control. For the RX8 Series 2 installation: 1.If you’re doing your own tuning, we recommend replacing the front O2 sensor with a wideband lambda sensor. 2. The factory ECU requires the airflow meter for idle control, 3. The ECU must be wired into the factory loom. Additional components required include a long harness, 2 x 5-pni relays and an OBD interface. 4. If the idle speed needs to be changed due to porting, we recommend using a reflashing tool eg MazdaEdit from Epifan.com to do this. 5. If you are changing to direct fire coils or otherwise changing the ignition system, ensure that it is wired and grounded correctly. If you’re using a coil / ignitor system where the secondary is grounded, the coil ground must be grounded to the rotor housing (not the chassis). This includes LS1, LS2 and AEM coils. If you’re using an ignition coil where the secondary is connected to the positive supply (eg the Bosch 717 coils), you must have a capacitor from the ignition coil positive to the rotor housing. This is standard in factory looms, but sometimes people forget this when they wire up their own ignition systems. An ultra slim controller can display in digital, bar-graph, or graphical modes and can be rotated 180 degree for installation with the included adjustable mount or flush mounted.

Take full control of your electric cooling fan with the Mishimoto Adjustable Fan Controller Kit! This kit is applicable for any 12v electric fan and includes all necessary components for installation. This kit can be purchased with a probe-style temperature sensor or with a 1/8" NPT thread-in sensor to fit the needs of any project. The Mishimoto Fan Controller features adjustable activation from 66°C to 116°C and deactivates once temperatures are reduced by 6°C. This controller includes a built-in A/C override feature and is designed for use with 1–2 electric fans drawing a combined 25 amps or less. The Mishimoto Adjustable Fan Controller Kit includes the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.

Essex Rotary would recommend the selection of the the 1/8th npt sensor over the probe style. The sensor can be installed in to a hose adapter like the Mishimoto hose adaptor.

This product is one of Adaptonic’s plug-in ECU and is a direct standalone plug and play ECU for the Series 1 Mazda RX8.

Our main objective in creating the Adaptronic Modular ECU line is to work towards Adaptronic’s mission which is to give people control. In doing this, we came up with a system which would give people greater flexibility and at the same time, overcome the limitations of our main product line, the Select ECU.



GENERAL FEATURES
  • Modular system, so that people can buy hardware upgrades later as their needs develop (eg additional inputs, outputs, or specific functions, eg drive by wire or built-in lambda)
  • Built-in Oscilloscope; to aid in external hardware & wiring faults etc
  • Built in Simulator to test ecu logic & input/outputs without engine running
  • Wireless communication
  • Maximum output of 22 (8 ignition, 8 injector, 4 auxiliary, tacho and fuel pump)
  • Full Sequential Fuel & Ignition Control- Direct fire capable( 4 individual coils on a 2 rotor, up to 8 total-will run a 20B, 4 Rotor, 4/6/8 cylinder properly), and Individual Rotor/Cylinder Injector Trim( individual control up to 8 injectors)

Please take note that the first version of the ECU will NOT support the following:
  • Front O2 sensor control
  • Cruise control
  • Traction control (DSC)

Cruise and traction control will later be supported through a firmware update on the first version units. But the front O2 sensor will only be supported on the later versions of the ECU (requires additional circuitry). Because of this, we will be supplying a free wideband lambda sensor kit, for people who will be purchasing the first version design.
